For the record, since I wasn't able to explain earlier. This post looked odd to me. When I first read it I had no idea what he was talking about. Then I checked the roles and see that it sounds like the martyr could be killed on protect. I was assuming normal BG type role (I need to read the rules a little better).
That made me wonder how he would immediately assume the wolves attack was blocked. There would only be one way that he would know that.
