It's likely an inguinal hernia. Pain right now is nil, so they can't really tell, but the doc says everything I've described points to it. (Just walking from our den to the bedroom was difficult earlier today, though.) He says I can keep running as the pain allows, but no heavy lifting.
They'll do surgery, likely outpatient, hopefully rather soon.
