I remember an ice storm we had about 10 years ago here in KC. Had nearly an inch of freezing rain. Power was out for several days. We just sat in the house and stayed near the fireplace. You could hear trees creaking and crashing to the ground all around the neighborhood. It's a really scary and helpless situation.

that was the 1 year i lived in KS. it was craazy. I remember sitting on our 3rd story deck watching the sky light up for hours as transformers blew out across the city. the next day it looked like every tree in the city had fallen, and mountains of branches littered the streets for weeks after.
