I enjoyed both and think he is an excellent writer. The first is a series of short stories, and were really enjoyable.
I also read where many of Rusts' philosophy comes from, sometimes word for word in:
The Conspiracy against the Human Race: A Contrivance of Horror
by Thomas Ligotti
It is some of the darkest stuff I have ever read.
