What was weird about it is it was the type of call where you'd normally see the ump make the call in the other direction, because the runner clearly beat the throw and if there was any doubt, it was whether his foot came off the bag (which would have taken away the force) or came up short of the bag as he slid.
BTW it was actually Votto that threw to second, the catcher was pointing for him to go to first.
