In the meantime, I'm taking a look at what kinds of salary requests my players have, starting with the goalkeepers. I'm also providing their ages, and my assistant manager's evaluation of their current and potential ability.
Goalkeepers
Jeff Oster: Age 23. 1 star current ability, 3.5 stars potential
Asking for €2,200 and Rotation status
Kevin Hartert: Age 34. 0.5 stars current/potential
Asking for €1,300 and Backup status
The two younger keepers in our system are asking for €2,800 and €1,700 respectively, and they each have 0.5 star potential.
My first inclination is to offer both Jeff and Kevin what they're asking for. After all, I could afford to pay about 150 Jeff Osters at that salary. I realize I'll also have various bonuses to pay (appearance, goal, clean sheet, loyalty, etc.), too.
I might instead see if there's a younger guy out there who would play for us for about the same thing we'd be paying Hartert.
