That being said, I'm not buying that he's particularly overhyped either. He's one of the best players ever in a given system - and when he's asked to play outside of that system for 10-15 games a year max, he's not quite as good. But how many times did he make a great touch or an intelligent pass that his teammates either didn't read or completely fucked up, even today? Off the top of my head, the through ball to Aguero where he slipped and the brilliant little flick to set up the ball for Higuain's offside goal, and there were more I'm sure. When you get to the knockout rounds of the world cup, one player just can't carry a team no matter how good they are. Ronaldo played one good ball in three group stages and guys like Ibrahimovic couldn't even get their team there.
