In this case, I'm not terribly disappointed with an 0-2 defeat. I admittedly chose a side that is far from our strongest, choosing to save more of our better players for the league match four days from now. Still, this is a far better group of players than we've ever been able to turn out in a similar situation.
Midfielders Mark Black and Christian Bowles, who were injured in training and have been building their match fitness with the reserves, made their first appearances of the season for the first team today.
We conceded an early goal and held the scoreline until very late in the second half, when Inverness strung together a very nice series of passes until we slipped up and left a player unmarked.
Nobody expected us to beat Inverness, so the players handled the outcome without losing much morale.
