It came out the first weekend of October last year.
That was part of a stretch of 2013 movies in Prisoners, Rush, Gravity and Captain Phillips that was very impressive. In recent years, some of my favorite movies have come out in the early fall for some reason. Of the four above, three were in my final top 10 for the year, and the 4th (Prisoners) was just outside (it was in my Top 10 last October but didn't survive Oscar season).
