I have 2 kids under 5.

I think as long as you are somewhere that you can get home quickly, and were only going to there a brief period of time it is ok.

There have been many times I have ran to my neighbors house while my kids were asleep, or taken out the garbage.

I think running 2 doors down to get Chinese food, ok, sitting at the bar and having 3 beers, probably not.
