At the end of the draft, but before the season begins, the Commissioner picks an expansion team from the available player pool, just in case the league expands. So my expansion team was pre-selected for me, after the 2012 league draft (and prior to the 2012 MLB season began), and based upon 2011 MLB stats.

This team was handed to me in January of 2013, so I'd have about two months to get acquainted with my team and make some moves before jumping into business with the Waiver draft and regular draft.

My Team
The first order of business for me would be to select a Home Team.
I narrowed my choices down to the Texas Rangers, the New York Mets, and the St Louis Cardinals.

Texas had Yu Darvish and some good prospects.
New York was loaded with young prospects - Harvey, Wheeler, etc
St Louis was also loaded with young talent - Wacha, Shelby Miller, Matt Carpenter, Joe Kelly, but most of all they had Oscar Taveras and history of churning out quality Major League talent.

I opted to go with St Louis.
