Southland Quarterfinals
(8) Texas-Arlington (8-21) vs. (1) Sam Houston State (26-4)

We beat them by 11 on the road in early February and by 30 at home just a few days ago. They have nobody that averages double figure scoring, so I expect my bench players to get a lot of minutes this game. And as expected, I was able to get everybody in the game, as we won easily, 56-33. I was impressed with the guys that don't get a lot of playing time, I realize it was against subpar competition, but we actually extended the lead in the last 4 minutes of the game. Here's a look at the box score:

Southland Semifinals
(4) Lamar (15-15) vs. (1) Sam Houston State (27-4)

We beat Lamar by 11 at home in late January, and by 19 at their place in late February. Brad Branum is about the only player they have worth mentioning, so if we stop him, we should roll along. Unfortunately, we didn't. We only led by 3 at halftime and both Scott Wolcott and Wilson Forbes had 3 fouls, so they would really half to be careful in the second half. They weren't, as both picked up their 4th foul early in the half. In fact, Lamar was in the bonus before the first media timeout. It was all I could do not to get thrown out of the game, but as a team we kept our composure and ended up with nobody fouling out, and fought through struggles to earn, and I mean earn, a 67-57 victory!
