Transfer Window Opens

-- The Premier League transfer window reopens and as usual, many of our key players look to be targets for the largest clubs in the world.

Transfer Market - Needs

-- At this point, we have no money so I won’t be conducting any major business until our budget is set. That said, I don’t have many holes in the lineup and don’t envision any large spending. We’ll continue to look for the best youngsters available.

Youth Recruitment Improved

-- Our planned expansion to our club’s youth and training facilities has been completed and our youth recruitment network is now considered “Established”, moving up from “Above Average”. Hopefully, this means we’ll finally develop our own star players here at Dover as opposed to having to buy them from others.

Transfer Window Fun

-- The first enquiry comes in for striker Andy Broomes and it’s Chelsea looking to buy him. No chance boys.

-- Former Dover loanee Gian Marco Fanfoni accepts a move to Tottenham, completing a ridiculous £29,500,000 transfer from Stuttgart. That’s insane money for the 21 year old - he was awesome for us as a 18 and 19 year old and it will be interesting watching his development with the Spurs.

-- We have a few offers trickle in for the unhappy Paolo Secchi and finally get one worth accepting from Birmingham. We’ll see if Secchi can sign a contract with them…

World Cup 2026

-- Chiquinho plays well in a losing cause for Belgium, as they drop a 1-0 decision to Uruguay.

-- Neil Cairney plays well for Scotland, as they defeat Columbia 3-0.

-- England and Ivory Coast battle to a scoreless draw. Arsene Bamba, Paul Moses and Emmerson Harvey all play in the contest.

-- Jose contributes an assist in a 6-0 whitewash of Czech Republic.

-- Sergio De la Vega, Claudio Contreras and Rodolfo Lopez all take part in Argentina’s 1-0 loss to Holland.

-- Salim Loucif captains Algeria to a 1-1 draw against the United States.

-- Rayane Hamon plays well for France in a solid 1-1 draw against Spain.

European Club Rankings

-- We move up 7 more places on the European Club rankings list, landing in the 3rd position with 153.055 coefficient points. Manchester United retain first place on the club coefficient list and Barcelona remains in second. What heady stuff for us!! Champions Dortmund move up to fourth and OM are now in fifth spot.

Transfer OUT

-- Paolo Secchi agrees to a contract with Birmingham, finishing off a £4,000,000 transfer deal with additional incentives likely. I signed Secchi on a free in 2024 from Barcelona after he showed great promise with their “B” team. He spent a full season on loan with Fiorentina in Italy, finishing second in the Italian Player of the Year voting while there but didn’t get into many games with us last year. He was never going to get many starting opportunities here and with some great youngsters in our U18 system, he was a luxury. In all, he appeared in 15 games with Dover (2 starts) and notched two assists. We wish him the best with Birmingham and hope he gets an opportunity to contribute there.
