Lawrie injured our player intentionally. Any apology (which there's no evidence he did so in person or via phone which contradicts his claim that he did so) falls totally on deaf ear. He just didn't want to get a fastball in the earhole and was begging his way out of it, which only pissed off the Royals even worse. His denials and lies didn't diffuse anything. If the A's don't want Lawrie to be targeted, don't throw at Cain.
Also, as I already pointed out, the umpires botched this situation terribly, only making the situation worse than it already was. As a result, not only did we see what happened later in the game, it's very clear judging from the post-game reactions that poor decision is now going to cause problems in further games. Just a terrible job by the umpires in this case.
