Admiral's Orders
Secondly, the orders for the 1st Nautilus Squadron must be determined for the duration of this crisis. There appear to be three basic options available here.
** Defend Humboldt. Don't risk the 1st Nautilus Squadron in a fleet engagement away from our spaceport, abandoning the Riblagga Mining Station if needed. The other station, at Maggrathi, is well within range of us here.
** Attack! The Nautilus Squadron will fly out to engage the incoming ... whatever they are ... when they violate the sanctity of Solaris Troutenis space. This is the boldest and most risky option, with simulations predicting that we would lose the squadron more likely than not if our sensor readouts, limited as they are, are accurate.
** Protect Riblagga. In this scenario, which is a balance between the two and is considered to give us the best chance for eventual total victory, the 1st Nautilus Squadron would deploy to the mining station to protect it. Their goal would be to engage with the station's assistance in it's general vicinity, which would probably but not certainly be enough to give us the upper hand.
Admiral SirFozzie, how shall the 1st Nautilus Squadron deploy?
You are both on the clock. If you have any ideas different than the proposed options, fire away with those as well.
For the first time in their history, the Architreuthis face the imminent prospect of a possible hostile alien contact. We're about to find out how the Collective's leaders perform under pressure ...

See! SEE! I told you that we needed a more robust defense. Protect Riblagga. Losing it would put us further behind our expansion goals.
And I hope this shows why we need a vigorous defense!
