I think college football dying is a lot more likely a scenario. Whether because of increased lawsuits/drying up youth numbers due to brain damage worries, or more likely because the courts (or Congress) finally step in and effectively force the NFL to pay for and create it's own minor league system that is no longer officially tied to colleges. I don't think any of that's likely by 2050, but I'd say that's slightly more realistic and likely to happen before the stagnant demographics of the rust belt or global warming starts playing a role  |
