Basically, among other things players did the tutorial to learn how to build a hyperdrive. But if you bought the pre-order then you got a ship with that already attached & bypassed the getting-the-blueprint tutorial. And if you trade in your fancy starter ship for another one ... you don't know how to build a hyperdrive.
