The boy ended up passing his spring classes and then took summer school in order to pass his grade. He wanted to do good, but those out of school factors really put him behind. When we talk about being privileged we're not talking about butlers and drivers and private school. We're talking about family support, minimal external pressures and safe, reliable transportation. So many families in our part of KY struggle and we live in a reliably middle class area. It's entirely different in the poorer areas in the east of the state, but the struggles are the same.
