I think he's kinda covered here on that though. The freshman QB -- ANY freshman QB -- provides a good bit of cover for the record at the moment.
Plus, the past three bowls were TaxSlayer, Belk, and Gator (in reverse order).
Barring a 5-7, that's similar to where they're likely to end up now anyway.
The problem I've seen -- and was thrilled to have happen frankly -- was that Richt tended to recruit press clippings more than actual players. Maybe those guys all looked legit in person as well as on paper but for whatever reason by the time they hit the field, most underachieved.
To improve the situation, Smart first has to find actual ballers. He doesn't have many of those to work with right now best I can tell.
