General Update - Bear
An interesting situation is developing for Bear. If you've been reading for a while you may recall several write ups where I mention Zones. When the kids were in age group swimming zones came down to a point total based on performances in the state meet. At the senior level the zones score is determined based on the regular season outcomes and senior participation is also limited to kids that don't have Summer National times. This season the senior men haven't been as interested in competing, leaving a couple of spots open, and they are very interested in getting Bear to fill one of those places.
At home we discussed this possibility (as well as Open Water Zones but that's another story) earlier in the season, but Bear wasn't that intrigued because none of his friends were planning to go. However, with him being actively recruited he might be inclined to change his mind. The event would take place July 31st to August 4 in Midland, TX. It's a great opportunity I'd love to see Bear be a part of, but it will cost close to $1000, which means he'd have to help pay for it and it would cut into his car budget significantly. It'll be interesting to see what he decides to do.
