I think this is one of those regional things.
Growing up in the SE the rose bowl is somewhere around the Citrus/Peach Bowl to me in terms of perceived importance.
Significantly behind the Orange, Sugar, Cotton and significantly ahead of the Tangerine, Blue Bonnet, Liberty Tier.
When I was younger and les traveled I never understood the whole "Grandaddy of them all" moniker or what the big deal was. Now I understand its cultural significance to that portion of the country and Ill watch the football. Still never going to watch the parade or halftime BS.
