So we finished Deadwood season 3 and the movie last night.
It's weird, going straight from the finale of Season 3 to the movie I imagine negated a lot of the disappointment. I think the movie did a good job of providing some closure to season 3, without spending much time on exactly what had gone on in the 10 years between the two, and leaving open the possibility of another film. The first 10/15 mins I was worried the whole thing was going to be one big long fan service event, but once the intro was done it was just like a 2 hour episode of Deadwood. It was real bittersweet, and it's a damn shame that a couple of the actors died before the movie came about - Powers Booth the big one, but Richardson (Ralph Richeson) also somehow became one of my favourites. Also a shame that a couple of guys weren't in the film (Titus Welliver especially).
All in all, among the best TV series I've seen. If I'd watched the show when it was released, I'd have been furious for the last 15 years.
