General Update - High School Swimming

The banquet was surprisingly well run last night. After the debacle of a banquet the previous year, the head of the booster club helped the coach design the presentations and the flow, which was a significant help.

The twins both received their letters (chevrons). Bailey got her state qualifier patch, and Bear got his State finalist patch. In addition, Bear was honored with Sree, Jake, and Ben for their record breaking 400 Free Relay.

After the presentation of the awards, the kids were asked to talk about their favorite memory from the last 4 years. Bailey's was clearly not her favorite memory, but was probably her most vivid one. She mentioned last year during the county championships when South won, one of her friends plowed into her and knocked her brand new cell phone (a Christmas present less than 2 months old) into the pool. Bear mentioned going out to eat with the team following the state meet last year.

The coaches then created some funny awards that they handed out to all the swimmers (except for the booster club president's daughter who was somehow overlooked). Bear's award was "Swimmer most likely to take the saying 'Break a Leg' too seriously", and Bailey got "Swimmer most likely not to go to graduation". I thought both were pretty clever and funny.

The kids also got a framed team photo that was signed by team members. It was a nice touch.
