NC is one of those states that is like Wisconsin--purple, but without a lot of moderate voters. Just a pretty close to 50-50 mix of dark red and dark blue.
Durham is one of the most liberal cities in the country, but it is a decent bike ride away from Pittsboro, where there have been consistent Confederate-rights marches for the last 6 months or so.
My sense is that NC could go blue, but if it does, it would be in an election where the Dems are winning big. It went for Obama in 2008 and Romney in 2012.
I think that a lot would have to break weird for it to be the tipping-point state.
