I remember now why I always hated apartments with all the neighbors' noise. I'll have to be sure to read reviews and speak to tenants in any condos we are considering. Still prefer condos over a smaller house because we'll be active travelling a lot. But now, maybe a townhouse instead with zero lot, in a gated community.

Not sure this is actually an actual useful comment or not, but what the hell.
The way you worded this made me think about the fantastic luck (and let's be real, that's probably what it is) that my son has had about living in Miami.
The condo he's in is so chill that he only recently discovered that a couple of units on the same floor of the building -- literally within a couple units on the same leg of a hallway -- were even
occupied. He'd been there more than a year at that point. Now THAT are some chill ass neighbors afaic.
My point here being simply that what you seem to be looking for
is possible, I wouldn't abandon hope in finding it too soon.
