They still had one timeout. I just think if he wasn’t willing to take it to Horford, pull it out and let’s call a timeout and draw a play up. try to either hit an open 3 at/near the buzzer -or- get a 2 to tie it.
Also idc specifically about the Strus play, but it’s beyond time for the court to expand a bit wider. Given that you’d lose seats, my compromise proposal would be for 1 foot on the out of bounds line to be considered “still in bounds”.
