We outbid four highly regarded programs to sign Bret, a big man with a diverse set of skills. I'm especially intrigued by Bret's ability to handle and pass the basketball; if our scouting report is accurate, he'd be as comfortable running our offense as
Kamari Stone is right now. Bret might also be able to switch one through five, which is also an exciting possibility.
Even if Bret is never a high-volume scorer at the collegiate level, he should bring enough to the table to be a valuable part of the team.
We still have a scholarship to offer. We'll probably look for a wing player. I'd be surprised if both
Byron Shores and
Kenton Lashley return for the 2024/25 season (players can enter the draft after their "junior year," and I'm not sure if that option is available for a redshirt soph like
K-Lash). I'd like to bolster our wing corps, just in case.
