The head coach hiring period was remarkably quiet this spring. We'll have to replace our Coaching Assistant, as Greg Seward has been hired to take the top job at Siena.
We hire Erik Bayless, a veteran coach who has spent most of his career at different colleges in Texas: as an assistant at Texas and, most recently, at Texas Tech, and as the big whistle at Texas Southern. Coach Bayless is 53, and he's known as an offensive specialist (Offense 100, Defense 48).
None of the players in the transfer portal appealed to me very much. The best was a shooting guard with a good jumper, but he won't play defense and he's an indifferent student.
