Most of the Oconee
County money showed up a couple decades ago, the result of white flight from neighboring Clarke, plain & simple. For quite a few years, it was the only county in Georgia that had a poverty rate (sub 1% around the time we moved up here) so low that they couldn't qualify to participate in the federal school lunch programs.
OC (as we call it at times) has actually been shi-shi for so long now that it's starting to become a place people are leaving for greener pastures, it's already peaked.
