I mean, it wasn't a purely elective surgery. And there was another related issue that needed fixing that I won't go into here, but yes, it was worth it. Although it absolutely sucked for about 5 weeks afterward.
I did it in early December since the end of the year is usually pretty quiet for me at work, which was good because I was pretty much unable to do much of anything for the first 2-3 weeks but shuffle from one place to another. By 5 weeks, I was able to walk around just fine and was cleared to start running and working out again, and I went back to normal pretty quickly after that. But it was bad enough for the first 10-14 days especially, that I couldn't even go to my daughter's basketball games (not just walking but of course sitting on bleachers).
I hope I never have to do it again. But if it's severe enough that it's the only option, you do it.
