The Dodgers are spending a ton, but they are making even more as a result of their spending. Building the brand, taking it international, getting even bigger as a result. This is the model of the huge soccer clubs too. If I put my non-Dodgers fan hat on for a moment, it's absolutely a giant pain in the ass for the league. It feels like what's even the point of cheering for your own team? Then again, this is America where the biggest, richest, and loudest run the country. Right or wrong, what's more American than a rich baseball team?
