CURRENT ROSTER
After a few early changes, this is our current roster. We probably will not be adding to it for a little while, at least until we are back in the black which should be in 3 weeks. We may not do a whole lot of transferring this year since we are in debt and 3 of our last 4 games are on the road.

THE NUMBERS
The Hippopotami have a rich three-day old tradition of following a numbering scheme. Like NFL teams, where recievers wear 80s and offensive linemen wear 60s and 70s, so, too, do the Hippopotami have a numbering scheme.
1-3 Goalies - Our franchise goalie will always wear #1
4-9 Defenders - Any other single digit is a defender or defensive wing
10-19 Midfield - Middies and Wings wear numbers that start with 1
20-24 Forwards - The offense starts with a 2

COACH
We got exceedingly lucky with a great coach after only my second try to replace the old coach. Ricky Braden is young, but with great experience and is a solid coach. We couldn't have asked for a better coach! Coach is now and ever will be number 25 unless we change the numbering system.

Of all the places on our team, this needs the most work. We really only have one guy I'm happy with and another I'm satisfied with. Hebert is here to stay, especially after he bumped up to "passable" defense last week. Slingerland is competent, especially if I can bump his defense up to passable but he seems best suited to backup. I desperately need a shutdown solid middle defender. Also, I would love to get another middie so I can play a 4-5-1.

Wingers
Mick Starks is our captain and star. Typically he plays an offensive wing on one side or the other. I like to switch it up to keep defenses guessing. Crespo is a pretty good number 2 and he is the set pieces man. Eventually I will have to upgrade and he will get older but for now, he's definately our second best option. Balbuena is a trainee but his periphery stats mean he doesn't have much of a future with no other nice skills. Storm Jordan has our coolest name and is a decent veteran backup. I could stand to get a legit winger trainee who can score opposite Starks but that is off in the future.

Middies
It always bugs me that we seem to get wretched ratings on middies. We have four main middies and three are solid with the fourth at passable for playmaking. Also, they all tend to have either decent passing, scoring, or defense, as well. Stamina is lacking a bit but these next couple of weeks, we will be working on it. Typically, I start Acker, Connors, and Benito. Benito's passable playmaking is more than made up for by his strong stats at scoring, defense, and passing. With some stamina improvement, Paz might see some more playing time. Paige is pretty good and pretty young so he makes the perfect trainee. Ideally, Paz and Benito will eventually be sold to get an uber #1 middie to play alongside Acker and Connors who are a fine #2 and #3.

Forwards
We are fortunate to have 3 quality forwards, two of which I got cheap on the transfer market. Solomonm and Phelan lead the team with 3 goals. Phelan and Chang will be front line starters for us for years, hopefully. I'd love to see #22 and #23 there for into the future. It would be nice to get one more young trainee for offensive formations and to replace Solomon in a couple of years.
