Gossip News: Merchantmen To Cut Arnett, Young, Kesler
The Gossip News has acquired an exclusive list with nine names of the players who will be cut by the Maassluis Merchantmen at the 60-men roster preseason deadline. Prominent names on the list are Arnulfo Arnett, the leader of the receivers and kickoff return specialist, Albert Young, who started 10 games at right guard in 2004 and Roy Kesler, a second-year running back with a "Dutch name", which is what some fans liked about the free agent signing. We also hear rookie linebacker Mitch Groh is set to be waived, despite a 100 thousand dollar signing bonus for a two-year contract. Other players listed as casualties are tackle Willie Dudley, who was 2-on-2 in key run blocks in 2004, guard Darrin Nellums, safety Graham Stevens and cornerbacks Steven Davis and Zack Kinney, who had 2 forced fumbles, 2 passes defended and 22 tackles in the 2004 season. The Merchantmen management was not willing to comment on the issue, saying the players who will be cut have not yet been informed. Yet, we believe the list is reliable and our experts think it's an accurate assumption. Of the players for the second wace of releases, when another seven players will be cut, the names are still a secret, yet we think third-year safety John Cole and especially defensive front leader Andrew King will be the prominent casualties.
