Merchantmen Pre Season Game One Preview
Tomorrow, the Maassluis Merchantmen will play the San Luis Obispo Burn in their first pre season game, in Maassluis at 17:00 hours local time. What makes this game interesting is that the Merchantmen were the worst team in the Atlantic Ocean Conference, while the Burn were the worst team in the North American Conference with a 3-13 record. Who will be playing for San Luis Obispo is yet to be seen, though there are rumors that #2 draft pick defensive end Peter Hutton will not play in the Oranje Haven, as won't other stars, like Mark STenson and Bryan Smith, on Coach of the Year Steven Marble's team. However, the Merchantmen management wants to make clear to the fans that the best team possible will be lined up for the first quarter as a tribute to the loyal fans in Maassluis. For the remaining games, the team opts to only play potential victims for the 53-men roster cuts, play young players and make injured players and top players inactive. General manager M.IJ.B.: "We figured we have to offer the fans a look at what our team will look like. That's the least we can do after the dissapointing season we had last year. We hope to see the game go by injury free." The sun is expected to shine and the temperature will be manageble for four hours of American style entertainment in the heart of The World's Biggest Harbor.
