Preseason: The final week of preseason was going well. LA had had such an amazing season the previous year and all of the hometown fans felt like they would do even better this season. They were winning this meaningless game by 10 early in the fourth and the fans were enjoying being able to see their team back in action. That is when it happened. The hit sent chills down the spine of everyone who saw it. Marty Gage’s right leg was sandwiched between two defenders who were desperately trying to earn a spot of the opening day roster. The top half of his leg went to his right, while the bottom half went left. The sheared off bone sliced through the skin like it was tearing through rice paper. The replay was shown over and over again on ESPN, each time with a warning of its graphic content. The look of agony on Marty’s face was plastered over the cover of S.I. Everyone knew his season was over, and that he would likely never step onto a football field again.

Looks like Grid Iron made his prediction one season too soon
