Some people export every sim to gameplan for the teams they're playing that sim, some people set a lineup and just make minor tweaks. Some people are very active in the offseason(hiring coaches/scheduling/early recruiting) and go mostly on autopilot during the season.
There are 4 or 5 sims a week during the offseason and exports are required for those if you have stuff to do(assistant coach hiring and scheduling), but, doing those exports takes all of 5 minutes for most people, and once you have your assistants you are waiting on everyone else...
I suspect scheduling is going to get easier too for most people... I am hearing a lot of people who dove in and tried to play as many human opponents during novemeber/december tell me "my non-coference schedule was *way* too hard"
