Cap'n -
Tucker continues their coming-out party

My Thoughts
Another early-season test against a team that seems to be in the playoffs every year. Several San Antonio players have the flu. The good news is that R.J. Ellard looks to return from his injury.

Back-to-back wins the next two weeks would be HUGE for Tucker. I'd love to go into the bye week at no worse than 5-2, and an away game against the Gridlock looms before the bye.

My Reaction
*Very* nice. A road win against a team that always seems to contend.

TUCKER WEEK FIVE 2012: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

THE GOOD
  • If we could ONLY keep him healthy...--R.J. Ellard was well nigh unstoppable this week: 21 carries for 159 yards, and his longest was only 23 yards. 12 of his totes were for six yards or more.
  • Good Solution--Shaun "The Solution" Duncan threw for 230 yards and 2 TD's, and was sacked only once.
  • From the scrap heap, to the limelight--C John Crouch was cut by division rival Orlando just a couple of weeks ago. We signed him, inserted him into the starting lineup, and he was brilliant: 4 for 7 in KRB, 0 sacks allowed.
  • The defense no longer rests in the T-U-C--The defense continues to play very well. Today, they gave up only 3.7 yards per play, and sacked John McMasters six times. Ellis Mier led the way with 5 tackles, 2 assists, 2.5 sacks, and a hurry, numbers good enough to land him IHOF's Defensive Player Of The Week award.
THE BAD
  • Bad Solution--Shaun "The Solution" Duncan completed less than 50% of his passes for the day.
  • Time Of Possession--In a word, it was dreadful. We only held the ball for 22:41 today.

THE UGLY
All in all, a good win today. We came away relatively injury-free, and FB Jared Molloy, who has been inactive the last couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, is now fully healed. A win at home next week would be very, very big for the Tigers.

Divisional Results & Standings
Conyers falls again, this time on the road to Vicksburg 10-6. The Gridlock win 31-3 at hapless Telluride. Orlando goes down 16-9 at Ft. Worth. The SE is rapidly becoming a 2-horse race.

Power Rankings
Week 5
Week 1 / Week 2 / Week 3 / Week 4

(Ranking-Team logo-Last week ranking-Team record-Ranking points-Change ranking points) _______________________________________________________
1. (1) – 5-0 – 111.929 – (+1.635)
Comment: It’s the first time in franchise history that they start the season with 5 wins. They held the Burns to just 29yds rushing and have still not allowed more the 11 points in any game this season. They currently have both the best defends and the best offense in the league. Next week they will travel to Fairbanks and play a team they have “only” beaten 3 times in 9 attempts.

_______________________________________________________
2. (2) – 4-0 – 103.530 – (-1.606)
Comment: They took full advantage of the Mohawks inability to stop the run. It was the 3rd time this season that J.T. Pulliam called 40 or more run-plays in a single game and the 209yds rushing was second most in team history. It was the first time in franchise history that the team won a game when they scored less then 10 points.

_______________________________________________________
3. (4) – 5-0 – 100.233 – (+4.030)
Comment: They a now the only team in the league to average more then 30 points pr game and the 44 the put up today against Springfield is a season league high. Ron Lyle passed for 5 or more TDs for the second time in his career but also got injured. That will open the door for Leslie Boehner who will get to start his just second game in the IHOF. 22nd round draft pick Tony Tandy continues his streak and now leads the IHOF with 6 receiving TDs.

_______________________________________________________
4. (3) – 3-0-1 – 94.666 – (-1.550)
Comment: The Chitterlings bump them down a spot in their bye week. They have done great until now but they have some tough weeks ahead of them and will be tested again when they travel to Boston for their 4th road game of the season.

_______________________________________________________
5. (5) – 4-1 – 87.368 – (+4.836)
Comment: They still look solid but it will be interesting to see if the can stop Jamal Pearson next week. Tyrus Shaye have now been targeted 45 times this season and have still not dropped a ball coming his way and have 5 TDs already. R.J. Ellard is averaging 7.54 yards per carry...but his longest carry is only 23 yards.

_______________________________________________________
6. (7) – 4-1 – 83.874 – (+5.288)
Comment: Last week we said they looked terrible so they of cause had to go out and beat the Red Menace for just the second time in franchise history. Arnie Poliska had a career high 177yds rushing but still only got a single TD all season. They can now spend the bye week trying to figure out how to replace the teams franchise player Alfred Delacruz the next 5 weeks.

_______________________________________________________
7. (8) – 3-1 – 77.150 – (+0.282)
Comment: Another European team with a bye week. Will play the Plagues, that suddenly have started to look like we now them, next week. Billy Jamerson is still questionable for the game and Casey Mercer will likely get his first start of the season. Have had the toughest schedule after the first 5 weeks of the season.

_______________________________________________________
8. (11) – 3-2 – 75.914 – (+9.702)
Comment: The Rhinos is one of the teams that don’t have a lot of depth and the injury to Lloyd Dye is a huge blow. They had few problems with the Giants but in a very tight division they simply can’t afford to loss more playmakers. David Marquis catched for a team season high 140yds but also dropped 3 balls.

_______________________________________________________
9. (13) – 3-2 – 74.505 – (+10.265)
Comment: They stopped the loosing streak but a 3 points win over RayCo is too little when you out gain them by over 200yds. Rookie Marco Villarrial might get his first IHOF start next week against Ann Arbor.

_______________________________________________________
10. (12) – 3-1 – 72.245 – (+7.530)
Comment: You never want you rookie quarterback to have elbow surgery and especially not when he is the #1 overall pick and he have just been handed $21mil in guarantied bonus money. Its very difficult to see a quarterback like Joe Tacopina take them all the way to the playoffs. They might actually win the next 4 games due to an easy schedule but after that it looks difficult. Have had the easiest schedule of all the teams until now.
