Houston still in the run

Trevor Gordon was named the Houston Spirit Player of the Month for the first time of the season after scoring 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 14 games.

Nothing earth-shattering happened during the month of January. Houston's coach Brian Sutter said it was going to be a determining month for his team, but looking at it now, we can see that the team is still in the same position as they were in December.

After going 6-6-1-1 for 14 points in 14 games, Houston is 14th in the West, 5 points away from Los Angeles who are 8th. Trevor Gordon was the Player of the Month for the Spirit as he scored 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 14 games.

Without much surprise, the Phenoms line, as was nicknamed the Malkin-Crosby-Ovechkin first line, offered ground-breaking performances night after night and one of them was named Player of the Month in the NHL: Evgeni Malkin, who scored 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 14 games. Washinghton's Jonas Johansson was named Rookie of the Month with 11 goals and 6 assists for 17 points in 14 games.
