the Turn of Century Centurions 6 to 3 at Yellowstone Park.
Fernando Valenzuela(2-3) won the game with a masterful relief performance. No
one got on base in his 1 inning. Caribbean totaled 7 on the afternoon.
Dennis Martinez got the save, his 1st. Cy Young(4-2) took the loss. He
surrendered 6 runs and 7 hits in 9 innings.

Tommy Bond had a strong outing at Free Agent Field where the Old Timers
Ancients beat the Late 20th Modern Stars in 14 innings by the score of 4 to
3.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Old Timers won the hard fought
contest in the 14th inning. George Davis cracked a solo homerun (his 1st of
the season). Old Timers managed 12 in their victory.
The win went to Al Spalding(1-0) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. John
Franco(1-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in
1 and 1/3 innings.

Lefty Grove reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Glory Stadium as the AL Pre
WWII ballclub beat the AL Post WWII club by the count of 11 to 3.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Babe Ruth. He delivered a base-hit scoring two baserunners in
the 1st inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 10th of the season)
in the 3rd inning and smacked a single which plated a run in the 5th inning.
For the game AL Pre WWII out-hit AL Post WWII 14 to 7.
Grove(4-2) allowed 3 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Jim
Palmer(3-3) suffered the loss. Miller Huggins was asked about the
performance of Grove, 'He had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans
really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to
give him even more adrenalin.'

Pete Alexander completed the game without help from the bullpen and Frankie
Frisch smacked 2 triples and had 2 RBI as the NL Pre WWII team defeated the
FOFC All Stars by a score of 7 to 2 at FOFC Stadium.
Alexander(3-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He gave up just 6 hits
and 4 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.41 to 2.93. NL Pre WWII
banged out 10 on the afternoon.
Brian Babson(4-1) was the loser. He surrendered just 3 hits and 2 walks in 7
innings.

Smokey Joe Williams tossed a complete game as the Negro League I Ones
outscored the Japanese League HOF Players 12 to 3.
Negro League I brought 6 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning with the help
of 5 hits. That early run support was enough for Williams(3-1) and Negro
League I. Negro League I had a total of 14 hits for the game.
Shigeru Sugishita(0-2) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 9 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. The Negro League I ballclub's record
now stands at a division leading 17-9. Japanese League has a record of 6-18,
worst in the division after the loss.
