Second baseman Tony Bernazard hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Cleveland
Indians defeated the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 8 to 5 at MUNICIPAL
STADIUM.
Cleveland brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning when
they had 4 base hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest.
Offensively, Cleveland was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
Jerry Reed(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. The loss
was charged to Bob McClure(0-2) in relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 2
hits and 1 walk.

In a close game it was the Boston Red Sox 7, the Minnesota Twins 5 at
METRODOME.
Boston promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 4
runs on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Glenn Hoffman who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he tripled emptying the bases. Boston finished with 9
hits in the victory.
The victory was credited to Bruce Hurst(4-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 4
runs. Ken Schrom(1-2) was hit with the loss. He gave up 7 runs in 6 innings
of work.
'He gutted it out' John McNamara said of Hurst. 'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'

In a tight game it was the Texas Rangers 4, the Kansas City Royals 2 at
ARLINGTON STADIUM.
Charlie Hough(4-4) pitched a solid game. He went 7 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 8 hits and 5 walks. Texas won despite being out-hit by Kansas
City 10 hits to 7.
Greg Harris earned his 2nd save. Bret Saberhagen(4-4) was the loser. Despite
the loss, he struckout 9 Texas batters in 6 and 2/3 innings.
'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Hough said,
'this was one of those times.'

In a two run game the Chicago White Sox got by the Toronto Blue Jays by the
score of 5 to 3.
Chicago started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first plating an isolated run using 2 hits. After two were out Harold Baines
lined a base-hit. Greg Walker was next and he delivered a one-base hit.
Dave Stieb then uncorked a wild pitch. Carlton Fisk stepped in and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Oscar Gamble stepped into the box
and drew a walk scoring the run. Toronto was out-hit by Chicago, 10 hits to
3.
Tom Seaver(3-5) allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Seaver got help from Bob James who was credited with his 7th save.
Stieb(7-1) was tagged with the loss.
Chicago now has a record of 14-20. With the loss, Toronto has a record of 7-3
lately, 27-9 overall.
