Goon - 8/10
Going in with zero expectations and given that Stiffler (Sean William Scott) is the main character and not really a fan of the guys' acting, I was pretty impressed with this. I think the character that he plays was a very good fit for his acting skills. He plays an 'enforcer' for a couple of semi-pro hockey teams after being a bouncer. He's not a wise man, but, he's honest and is a likable character. All he wants to do is do a good job for his team and because he's not the smartest person, he makes some mistakes along the way which lead to a couple of funny moments.
The movie is based on the book: Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey which chronicles the career of Doug Smith.
Anyway, it's not Slap Shot by any stretch, don't get me wrong, but, if you like hockey and you like hockey movies, you will enjoy this one. It is kind of violent though, so be warned.
