José Muñóz emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from
Cleveland deserved the honor, batting .280 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let
Muñóz enjoy the limelight.
So far this year,
Muñóz is batting .274 with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs.

None of the pitchers could figure him out last month.
Juan Contreras was pure poison to them, lashing out hits with in such abundance he was voted the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month.
In June he hit the ball at a .284 clip, popping off 27 hits and 2 home runs with 16 RBIs and scoring 21 runs.
Hammersmith opponents have to be thinking about pitching around this guy until he cools off a bit.
Contreras on the season is hitting .322 with 5 home runs. His stats include 43 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
