Quarterback 'Fumblin' Justin McDavid comes back in 2007 season
As the retirement announcements flooded the IHOF today at thestart of the 2006 season, it became apperant that Merchantmen quarterback Justin McDavid is willing to sit out the 2006 season and return in 2007. McDavid is recovering from surgery after suffering a torn ACL in his knee.
With McDavid's delayed return, the Merchantmen still need to look for a backup quarterback, but now it only has to be a one year solution. Leonard Lyon remains as the clear number one as the team spent a first round pick on him in the 2005 draft. Antoine Shepherd has good hopes on remaining as the premier backup, like he was for the 2004 campaign. Last year's injury replacement Aubrey Brunelle is officially still on the roster. Brunelle might be hoping for an extended stint with the Merchantmen as second stringer.
