Press release: Merchantmen put quarterback McDavid on injured reserve
Far before the first snap has been made, the Maassluis Merchantmen decided to put Justin McDavid on the injured reserve list. Team doctors have said that McDavid won't be fully recovered during the season. Knowing that McDavid won't play in 2006, the management have decided to pull the plug and tell McDavid he's not on the active roster until the start of the 2007 season, when he's expected to be recovered.

General manager M.IJ.B. explains: "It wasn't a tough move, we talked it over with Justin and he knew that the doctors' diagnosis would influence the decission. If we were told he'd return during the season, he'd just be inactivated. We'd ask the press to give McDavid the needed rest and time to recover.
