Merchantmen franchise Alvin Causey
A long awaited move was made today, the Maassluis Merchantmen have notified Alvin Causey that he will be the franchise player for the Merchantmen. Causey is now scheduled to make 4.2M dollars for the 2006 season, unless they team and player agree on a different deal in free agency. Causey is asking for about 5.3M dollar over 3 years, of which about 1M to 1.5M in the 2006 season. With the Merchantmen 7.2M dollars over the cap, Causey won't be signed to that deal for a long time. The Merchantmen management only wanted to say that they plan to get the cap room for him before the 2006 draft. "Plus we might have a few surprise moves going into the draft as well." added general manager M.IJ.B.
