Gossip News: Merchantmen phones still working overtime
The Merchantmen team is turning into a ghost ship. Star players are kicked for draft picks, while the team can't afford either. The latest gossip is that the #1 pick in the upcoming draft is up for trade and the Merchantmen are league-wide expected to make a run for it. Not in the last place as they have openly advertised their five picks in the range of #12 to #51 to package them for higher picks. Additionally, the want to lose one of their two left guards.

The Boulder Blizzard, the team holding the number one pick first said to be holding on to it, but now changed their mind with a lot of holes to fill. The Blizzard have pressing needs, which the Merchantmen can hardly fill, yet the picks could be welcome additions.

Still, the Merchantmen are in cap woes, to make that move they'd probably have to lose either running back Randy Harris or right tackle Wilson Grimaldo. And recently, the Merchantmen manager M.IJ.B. claimed it would be foolish to trade another star player. Harris is irreplacable, yet Grimaldo has been teaching Russell Malave a lot lost season and Malave saw a big progress in his play at right guard and with Grimaldo mentoring. The addition of Timothy Lacy and pressence of Butch White and Alvin Causey make this move easier to work out.

We also heard about rumors of the Merchantmen having conversations with the Astoria Heroes temporary replacement as general manager. That temporary replacement is rumorred to be the same person who leads the Fumblin Justin fan club. If these seemingly clashing interests can work out is yet to be seen, but there are some rumors saying the Merchantmen have been talking with the Heroes about a quarterback for picks trade.

Other rumors are that the Merchantmen don't like Seth Dwight, who is already known as 'Air Force One' and rather want to go for Louie Flannery. Our sources picked up snippets of a conversation from the Merchantmen manager claiming there are four franchise type quarterbacks in this draft and not just one or maybe two.

Last but not least, we found a piece of paper with names of expendable Merchantmen players. According to our source, the newly additions at quarterback, Mel Atkins and Moe Baxter, will have to battle it out for the #2 spot on the depth chart, yet neither seem to fit in the plans of the team. Guard Devin McDaniel, tackle Jeff Fontenot and linebackers Sam Sasa and Roosevelt Whalen, and cornerbacks Sammie Hernandez, Gus Alston and C.J. Schwartz should all fear for their jobs.

How these rumors can work together is a mystery to us, how can this team even think they can afford the number one pick at only 110 thousand dollars under the cap and needing almost four million to sign the top pick? Gossip News will keep you up to date, rumors are always closer to the truth then they seem. As the Dutch say, if there is smoke, there is fire too.
