Stu Hixon Invite @ Mt View Aquatic - RESULTS DAY 3 FINALS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bailey

# 83 Woman 11-12 50 Fly 33.32 – In the finals, Bailey zipped down the pool, trying her best to stay with the top two swimmers, and limit her breathing to every fourth stroke. It paid off, as she was able to drop more time, finishing at 32.65…earning a bronze medal by finishing third, and getting her AAA time. This swim is probably also good enough to get her on at least the B medley relay for Gold at State.

#99 Woman 11-12 50 Breast 44.15 – Bailey was shocked to learn she earned a spot in finals in the Breast. She improved her time again swimming it in 43.31 and placing ninth overall…

Bear

# 82 Male 11-12 200 Fly 2:54.40 - In all my years of going to the kids meets, this was one of the most exciting swims I’ve had the pleasure to watch. The race started out and Bear was probably sixth or so at the first turn. Coming back to finish the first 100, Bear was a distant fourth. However, after the midway turn, it became pretty obvious Bear was starting to close on the third place swimmer. He had clearly set his sights on that kid and was reeling him in. He caught him at the turn for the 150, and started back down the pool for the finish. However, after the turn, he started pushing in order to catch the kid in second. By about mid pool, the announcer noticed and even commented that Bear was making a move, and that he might have enough pool left to get himself into second place. Slowly he closed the gap, and with about 5 meters to go, he passed and ended up taking second by about half a body length. That night the coach texted us…to say how impressed he was with Bear’s 200 fly. He even commented that we named him correctly, because Bear is an animal…final time 2:46.48

# 102 Male 11-12 200 Breast 3:37.24 – Bear got into this final, but he was exhausted and he still had the 500 Free coming up, so he scratched…at my suggestion.

# 112 Male 11-12 400 Free 5:13.66L - Fatigue was still an issue here, as he really struggled trying to keep up with the field. He did amazingly manage to swim a personal best…just barely…posting a 5:13.61…but given his 800 Free time is a 10:22…we know he can go faster when he isn’t exhausted.
