Georgia 14U Long Course Championships - RESULTS - Day 2

Bailey

50 Fly : 32.65 – Seeded 7/30 – Day 2 – Bailey was very uptight heading into this race, and it negatively impacted her swim. She was stiff through the race which stole some of her explosiveness. She ended up adding about 1 second (33.54) to her seed time and finishing 22nd. Yes 22nd…this race was extremely tight and 1 second made a world of difference. To get in finals she would have needed to cut another .2 seconds…which given that her personal best was just 2 weeks ago, was asking a lot.

50 Back : 36.77 – Seeded 24/37 – Day 2 – Bailey ended up being seeded right next to her old SwimAtlanta friend Haley. During the race Haley was slightly ahead of Bailey the entire way down the pool, but Bailey’s strong throwback finish allowed her to out-touch Haley by .08. All in all, Bailey dropped .32 seconds to finish with a time of 36.45 and in eighteenth place.

400 IM : 5:54.60 - Seeded 17/26 – Day 2 – In the 400 IM, Bailey started with a fly leg of 1:16.06…not bad considering her best 100 Fly is in the 1:15 range. He back split was a bit off at 1:31.56, but still pretty good. In her breast leg, she continued to show improvement, holding off quite a few swimmers and posting a split of 1:44.31. She finished with a 1:18.20 Free and a personal best time of 5:50.13. Good enough to move up to sixteenth.

Bear

200 Free : 2:29.73 – Seeded 26/30 – Day 2 – Early in the morning Bear said his shoulders were sore from the 1500 (not really a surprise)…but he was pretty pumped up about his chances in this following the strong swim the night before. He went out with a very strong 1:10.50, .02 faster than his personal best in the 100 Free…Then he closed with a 1:14.58. He dropped 4.65 seconds in total, posting a time of 2:25.08 and he moved up to 18th place.

400 IM : 5:51.08 - Seeded 10/22 – Day 2 – Bear’s fly was a bit stiff, which put him behind and he ended up adding almost .5 seconds. 5:51.52…he finished 13th. His splits, in case you want to compare them to Bailey’s were…1:20.33 Fly, 1:30.59 Back, 1:46.83 Breast, 1:13.77 Free…
