General Update

So practice is in full swing and kids are working hard. I do have a few things to report...

- Bear was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter Disease...while this sounds terrible it is the same thing that Brett experienced when he had knee pain earlier this Summer. In essence it is a combination of overuse and growing pains. He'll be fine, but he'll be limited - No Breaststroke, No high impact dry land, no running. We'll be treating it with ice, rest, and advil.

- Brett is doing a good job in a tough situation. Right now the new coach hasn't split practices into different intervals...so everyone on the Senior/National team are currently swimming National intervals. This means Brett doesn't get rest between sets, because his personal bests are often times not as good as the intervals the nationals swim. However, given that he is doing well focusing in on the items he needs to improve on...in the afternoon. While he's been a champ about getting up and going to morning practices, they aren't as productive. Because they are so early, I can't give him his meds to help him focus (or they'd run out on him before the end of school)...so he makes the typical mistakes he's trying to clean up. We are hoping we can find a solution that will allow him to be more productive in the mornings...will keep you updated.
