August saw the team go on a tear and break open a nice lead in the division. By mid September we had pulled away and locked up the division title. It wouldn't all go according to plan though as we would limp home in September including dropping 8 of our last 10 and 3 straight against the team we would play in the first round of the playoffs, the Seattle River Dogs.

Once the playoffs began though, the team didn't look back and worry about where they had been. One player in particular would lead the charge that would help push the team further on than was ever expected.

The Regional Finals saw Napa win 5-0. They dropped game two, 6-5 despite a HR from Graham Sheffield. Napa went on to win both 3 and 4 by the scores of 4-3 with Sheffield hitting a HR in game 3 and 2 in game 4.

On to the finals against the Tacoma Tincups, the wild card team who knocked off the Victorville Serpents.

Sheffield would hit HR #5 in game one, but despite that the Owls lost 6-5. We would get it back in game 2 with a 4-1 win with Sheffield homering in his 4th straight game. Game 3 would be another loss 6-2 as the Owls fall behind 2-1 in the series. Game 4 would get evened up again behind a 6-2 win. Game 5 would again go our way 6-1.

Game 6 would be pitched by Bicalho and he would get help from Sheffield who hit his 7th HR of the post season. It's all he would need as the Owls would pull away with an 8-0 win and the return of the title to Napa!

So now that we know team totally overachieved in winning the title with a new GM and patchwork team, what impact did the preseason signings have on the season?
